Biography
Mr. Feely grew up in Portland and holds BM and MA degrees in music education from Lewis & Clark College in Portland. He also has an elementary classroom certificate from Western Oregon State University.  After college he toured across the country for two years as a music director for the Miss Teen America pageants, arranging and conducting music for pageants in 7 western states as well as Massachusetts, New York and Rhode Island.  A frequent recitalist, he has performed for regional and national conventions of the American Guild of Organists, The Organ Historical Society and The American Theatre Organ Society and in Portland, Seattle, San Francisco and Chicago.

He was a featured organist at the Organ Grinder Restaurant in Portland for over 10 years, performing there on the mighty Wurlitzer. He has three recordings to his credit, including popular and sacred music and is the Director of Music at St. Andrews Church in Southwest Portland.  Don has taught in the Lake Oswego, North Clackamas and Oregon City School Districts, but he likes the Canby School District the best.  He likes it so much that he moved to Canby with his wife, Heidi, so their four children could attend Canby schools.

In addition to music, he has always been involved in drama.  While in high school he interned with The Production Company in Portland, where he got to perform and work backstage at the Pine Street Theater and The Eastside Performance Center.   He enjoys directing the Ackerman Theater productions and also coordinates the summer plays for Canby Community Theater.

While he enjoys teaching, there are some days when he wishes he had gone into horticulture or veterinary medicine.  But to help maintain a positive attitude he always remembers this saying:

"Never try to teach a pig to sing;
  It wastes your time and annoys the pig!"
